What is a Postpartum Doula?

Bringing home your new little bundle of joy is a glorious time but also a major life transition. In today's fast paced society, we may find ourselves a bit overwhelmed with sleep deprivation and other stressors that come in to play during this transitional time. Also, many of us in the Antelope Valley are far away from the loving support of their family.

Enter the postpartum doula, a supportive advisor and helper. A postpartum doula is a knowledgeable professional who provides invaluable assistance during the critical period immediately following the birth of your baby. A postpartum doula is trained to assist in postpartum comfort measures, breastfeeding support and infant care. A postpartum doula's number one goal is to “mother the mother”. She knows that by providing support to the family, she is increasing the chances of success in breastfeeding and reducing the risks of postpartum depression. She is there to empower the family and provide practical non-judgmental guidance.


As your Doula, my services include:

Whether you are bringing home your first or your fifth baby, there is always a period of adjustment for everyone in the family. I prefer to meet with you and your family so that we could discuss the areas where assistance would be beneficial. The postpartum doula's job description varies from family to family. Services are based on specific need but are not limited to:

  • Infant care instruction
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Emotional support
  • Time for mom to get her much needed rest
  • Meal preparation
  • Light housekeeping
  • Errands
  • Time for exercise
  • Sibling care
  • Laundry

    Call (661) 547-0130 to schedule a free consultation

    Monday- Friday 8:00am-5:00pm* $ 20.00 per hour
    Saturday available after 5pm*$ 25.00 per hour
    Sunday available after 7pm* $ 25.00 per hour

    *Please note there is a 4 hour minimum for daytime hours or an 8 hour minimum for nighttime hours
